Hi, I’m Ashton, the face behind Girl About East Yorkshire 👋

I’ve always been an experience-chaser. Food, travel, adventure, days out… if it makes a good story or a great memory, I’m in. For years, that meant hopping on planes and exploring as much of the world as I could. These days, I’m a busy, hustlin’ mummy, which means my travels look a little different. Fewer long-haul flights, more packed lunches, and a little less sanity I think… but the love for exploring hasn’t gone anywhere.

It’s just shifted closer to home.

Living in Hull (a city I absolutely adore, and once went viral for championing!), I’ve fallen head over heels for Yorkshire and everything it has to offer. Coastlines that blow your socks off, countryside walks that end with a good chippy, family-friendly adventures and attractions, lots of quaint hidden gems, and so many incredible food spots that my bank account can’t handle.

And Girl About East Yorkshire is where I share it all. Honest reviews, thoughtful storytelling, practical tips, and a healthy dose of “look at this really cool thing we tried.” You’ll usually find me exploring with my partner, our kids in tow, camera in hand, and a mental note of where to eat afterwards.
